Under the motto “simply efficient”, Bystronic demonstrates at the Blechexpo 09 in Stuttgart, Germany, its latest developments from the laser cutting, waterjet cutting, bending, automation, and software sectors. Since: Patrick Diederich, Managing Director of Bystronic Deutschland GmbH, is convinced that “economic efficiency pays off”. Companies that can optimize the ratio between earnings and costs are more competitive and one step ahead of the competition. “And anyone who puts their trust in Bystronic for sheet metal processing not only manufactures with high precision but also efficiently and economically”, explains Patrick Diederich.
BySprint Pro 3015 – now also with RPP
The BySprint Pro 3015 is the unique high-speed laser cutting system for the highest operational and economic efficiency. It was launched last year and since then has enjoyed tremendous popularity on the market. The BySprint Pro impresses through its record cutting speed with thin metal sheets. Here it achieves the shortest of part cutting times, in particular through the efficient combination of high-speed plasma cutting with high machine dynamics. Its maximum economic efficiency, which means the operating costs that are reduced to a minimum coupled with its extraordinary performance, offer the user a clear competitive edge.
Furthermore, since September of this year the BySprint Pro is delivered as standard with Regulated Pulsed Piercing (RPP). On this date the application of this fast and reliable piercing process was significantly expanded and since then RPP has been an integral part of the standard equipment on virtually all newly delivered systems with a laser power of 4.4 kilowatts and upwards. Furthermore, from the end of 2009 onwards, a retrofit kit will be available for upgrading selected existing systems with RPP.
“RPP users benefit in particular from the fact that piercing is on average 30 percent faster compared with other methods”, calculates Patrick Diederich. In particular, the production of parts where the piercing time accounts for a high percentage of the total processing time is much quicker using RPP. At the same time, this new Bystronic solution offers maximum process reliability. This is because the entire piercing process is monitored and regulated. Thus, it is ensured that independently of the sheet metal’s quality, thickness, and temperature, the piercing flux never “boils over”. Furthermore, soiling of the nozzle and the lens is reduced to marginal levels. Another benefit of RPP is its ease of use, not least because the number of piercing parameters is reduced, in some cases significantly, compared with other piercing methods.
ByTrans 3015 Extended – twice the storage capacity and three times as flexible
Together with the loading and unloading unit ByTrans 3015 Extended, the BySprint Pro 3015 forms an extremely economically efficient package that turned out to be a true crowd puller at the Blechexpo 09.
The much in demand ByTrans was on show to the public for the first time at the Blechexpo in 2007, and since this year’s Blechexpo is available to the user in two variants. In the standard version the raw material is still supplied from a single cassette. The new extended version now has a second cassette that can be used as required
- as an additional sheet metal store,
- for supplying protective plates, or
- for depositing large cut parts for storage.
If the ByTrans Extended is used solely as a sheet metal store, then the metal sheets can be taken from both cassettes, as required, during the cutting process. This allows twice the number of metal sheets to be stored. Furthermore, the entire system is utilized more efficiently and can function for longer periods during operation with less staff. This results in a significant increase in productivity.
When producing parts that must not be scratched after cutting, the second cassette can also be used to store protective (plastic) plates. Depending upon the programming, the ByTrans Extended automatically places these between the individual processed metal sheets. Additionally, the protective plates also facilitate the separation of the metal sheets and can also be used to mark the start and the end of an order.
Finally, the ByTrans Extended can significantly ease the handling of large cut parts. In this case, the ByTrans Extended automatically removes the cut parts, deposits these in the second cassette for interim storage, and places the skeletons in the intended place. Manual separation is thus not required, which raises the productivity of the whole system considerably.
ByJet Classic 3015 – a waterproof investment
The ByJet Classic 3015 waterjet cutting system, which was launched in July, is Bystronic’s answer to its customers’ margins that have come under pressure as a result of the economic crisis. The ByJet Classic 3015 will be of interest to all existing as well as new waterjet cutting machine users who require a high functionality of the system coupled with precise cutting results and who simultaneously place value on a manageable investment level.
Thus the ByJet Classic 3015 convinces through high earnings at a favorable purchase price, thus ensuring the shortest amortization time even with reduced capacity utilization. The combination of proven components and innovative technology results in a high level of system functionality. In particular for standard applications the user is optimally equipped, even in multi-shift operation. At the same time the ByJet Classic 3015 has a long service life and maintains lasting precision. This is ensured by the high quality machine construction, perfect alignment of the individual components and mastery of the control of the entire process.

Hämmerle 3P – the precision!
The Hämmerle 3P pressbrake has for many years enjoyed an outstanding position in the market and was improved further in time for the Blechexpo 09. Amongst other things the machine was equipped with a new back gauge system with a faster electrical drive replacing the hydraulic drive. The lifting aids have been ergonomically adapted so that the handling of awkwardly shaped and heavy parts has become simpler. A further optimization of the bending process is the objective of the new hydraulics, the new hydraulic sliding table, and the new CNC, which result in faster positioning of the axis. The safety of the machine operator is now also ensured by an AKAS® laser safety system with motor-controlled adjustment.
“The Hämmerle 3P is unique in terms of its repetition accuracy and its precision in bending and hence offers perfect reliability and maximum profit”, explains Patrick Diederich. Furthermore, the system is very flexible in respect of numerous factors, for example, choice of tools, angle setting, bending process, or the type of bending operation. This leads to new and extended possibilities when constructing parts and components. It sets the standard upon which others orient themselves and is furthermore a pioneer for new, trend-setting technologies that later will also be used in other Bystronic product series.
Bybendpart – tailored, solution-oriented, and plausible
Bybendpart is the answer to the question as to why it no longer pays to program the parts to be bent on the machine itself. With the latest upgrade the functionality of this Bysoft module has been significantly extended. Bybendpart is now also a perfect 3D designer. Another new feature is that the processing of 3D data, which is based on empirical values, is now integrated in Bybendpart so that no additional software module is required.
With Bybendpart, Bystronic provides you with a software module with which you can
- parameterize production-ready 3D models of your bent part and
- plausibly create reliable bending process data.
Bybendpart is not only plausible in all its functions, but is also tailored to cope with a range of starting situations. For example, if a part is only defined in a fax, a sketch, or an idea, Bybendpart makes it possible to generate parameterized 3D models that can be repeatedly edited without limitation. Furthermore, 3D deformations such as dimples or studs and ventilation louvers can be added to the model; these are taken into account during the collision part of the 3D bending simulation. If 3D data is already available for a part in SAT, STEP, IGES, or IPT format, these can be imported without difficulty and correctly processed using Bybendpart. If DXF data exist, that is 2D data, these are also immediately processed by Bybendpart as long as the unfoldings are correctly reduced. If unfoldings need to be adapted, using Bybendpart they can be prepared as 3D models and reworked into correct bent parts with a few mouse clicks. “Bybendpart is tailored, solution-oriented, and plausible. This means that it turns every user into an expert”, is how Patrick Diederich explains the benefits of the new software module.
Not just the Bybendpart module, but the complete Bysoft CAD/CAM software package was demonstrated at Blechexpo 09. In particular the Plant Manager Cutting module was the center of great interest.
