Bystronic at MACH 2006 - convincing, comprehensive solutions for sheet metal processing

For the very first time, Bystronic in the UK is presenting a united front to a broad range of exhibition visitors at MACH 2006 under the umbrella of its own trademark. Visitors to the Bystronic stand can experience demonstrations of a comprehensive offering of solutions for sheet metal processing.

Following the merger on January 1, 2006, of the two English subsidiaries Edwards Pearson and Pullmax to form Bystronic UK, Bystronic is for the first time presenting itself at the MACH 2006 trade fair united under the umbrella of its own trademark. On the Bystronic exhibition stand, convincing and comprehensive solutions are presented in the laser cutting, waterjet cutting, bending, software and control sectors, as well for mechanical cutting. Whereby the automation of the materials and data flows play a significant role. In addition to Bystronic's own range of equipment, the Pullmax punching machines and Virtek laser systems that are sold as third-party products are also represented on the stand.
High speed plus precision = ByspeedByspeed
Its extremely high positioning speed coupled with excellent production results, make the Byspeed a productivity driver in the user's workshop. Outstanding characteristics of the machine are acceleration of up to 3 g on both axes, which is achieved thanks to the DHM drives designed and developed by Bystronic, as well as state-of-the-art cutting technologies and piercing processes such as Scanning, Controlled Pulsed Piercing (CPP) and Lead In with a zero piercing time. Using the scanning mode, up to 350 rectangular and square holes can be processed per minute, and the revolutionary CPP piercing procedure permits the user to achieve a reduction in the part cutting time of up to 50 percent when processing sheet thickness of between four and 25 millimeters. In addition, the consistent application of the direct cutting procedure, Lead In, permits a reduction in the part cutting time of up to 35 percent compared with traditional piercing procedures.

On show at the Mach trade fair will be a Byspeed 3015 equipped with the high performance Bylaser 5200 ARC. This laser source is capable of increasing and decreasing its power precisely at the desired point and without delay, and with a constant output power of no less than 5.2 kilowatts permits the processing of steel sheets up to a thickness of 25 millimeters with the highest level of quality. The Adaptive Radius Control (ARC) technology ensures that the diameter of the laser beam remains constant over the whole of the cutting area.
Waterjet cutting with automationByjet
No other supplier is in a position to offer as standard, waterjet cutting machines equipped with an additional shuttle table. This increases the productivity of a system by up to 30 percent and opens the door to further extension of the automation, for example with swivel loading and unloading. Such a machine from the Byjet series with a cutting area of 3 x 1.5 meters will be demonstrated live to the trade visitors at the MACH 2006.

In addition, the system is equipped with two parallel cutting heads of the type HPT (High Precision Tool), which works with even greater precision than its predecessor and permits the shortest of repositioning times. Together with the Bypump APC ultra high-pressure pump with active pressure control, which incorporates an extensive and automatic diagnostic system that monitors and displays more than 20 signals, the Bystronic Byjet is one of the most outstanding systems on the market, combining productivity, economic efficiency, process security and precision in a unique manner.
Bystronic pressbrakes and shears: The correct solution for every application

Beyeler PR
In the pressbrake sector, Bystronic customers worldwide can take advantage of a unique and comprehensive offering:
Whether a high-end machine from the Hämmerle 3P range, top-class machines from the Beyeler PR family or mid-range machines from the AFM EP series - Bystronic is the only supplier in a position to be able to offer the optimal pressbrake to suit the respective challenge.

The Beyeler PR pressbrakes are represented on the Bystronic exhibition stand firstly by a pressbrake with a bending length of three meters and a pressing power of 100 tons. The Integrated Process Control (IPC) technology that is used with the Beyeler pressbrakes to control the bending angle without the use of mechanical measurement equipment and without intervention in the control or the need to change machine parameters, was awarded the coveted "Metalworking Production Award" in the "Best Forming/Fabrication Machine Tools" category at MACH 2004.

Another machine from the Beyeler PR series will be on display in conjunction with an ABB industrial robot in the form of a highly economically efficient bending cell. This cell possesses a whole range of impressive features, above all a high level of product quality that is independent of the operator as well as a clearly increased productivity of up to 42 percent with minimum space requirement.

Also on display will be a pressbrake from the AFM EP series, which with its so-called Synchro technology fulfils the highest of demands placed on process reliability by Bystronic customers. When this is paired with a comparably low purchase price, these machines represent for individual users an extremely cost-effective processing of orders.

The exhibits on show at the MACH 2006 in the bending and mechanical cutting sector, are rounded off by a ByShear VR. A consistently high quality of the cut is one of the outstanding characteristics of this hydraulic shear. This is assured not least by the incorporated VR technology with automatic setting of the cutting angle and cutting slot. This technology is recognized as the most suitable for cutting both thin and thick sheets of various types of material.
"From file to part": Optimal support from both software and control

Bypart
 ByVision

With the CAD/CAM program package Bysoft, Bystronic makes available the leading cutting and bending software that is capable of unleashing the capabilities of the Bystronic designed technologies on the machines like no other software. Furthermore it exhibits a high level of user-friendliness and is easy to learn and to use. Bysoft is compatible right across the board, this means that a data file must be opened only once and subsequently is passed from module to module in an internal format. Visitors to the Bystronic exhibition stand can learn more about the remarkable characteristics of the software by participating in Software Forums.

It will also be possible to examine the new high-performance control ByVision in detail at MACH 2006. ByVision not only impresses due to its excellent and simple design but also through its extraordinarily user-friendly menu guidance and its enormous speed. Even large cutting plans can be transferred to the machine within seconds. A further outstanding feature of ByVision is the simplicity of its maintenance. The hardware components of the control package are housed in a single compact box, which can be exchanged with a replacement in the shortest possible time. The result is a significant reduction in machine down times. Both the Byspeed laser cutting machines and the Byjet waterjet cutting machines on show at MACH 2006 will be controlled by ByVision.

"Virtually no other supplier is in a position to be able to bundle all the various facets along the process chain 'from file to part' into such convincing solutions as Bystronic. We will prove this once again in Birmingham" comments Christoph Schüpbach, Head of Europe North/East Market Region, on Bystronic's presence at MACH 2006 in Birmingham (UK).
Pullmax punching machines: Speed and precision for new levels of economy

Flexibility, increased efficiency and the highest level of precision for punching are offered by the new Pullmatic series from Pullmax, which will be represented on the Bystronic stand by a Pullmatic 520 FC machine. With its single indexing punch head, the machines allow all tools to be indexed by 360°. In order to maximize material utilization, parts can be rotated to any orientation and positioned on the work piece. The punch head is located by an automatic tool carousel with 20 identical tool positions.
Measuring with the speed of a laser

Another third-party product that will feature on Bystronic's stand is the LaserQC laser measurement system from Virtek. This measuring system is used to measure 2D product layouts, mainly in the metal industry, in order to inspect product layouts from punching and laser cutting machines. With the aid of the LaserQC, the dimensions of product layouts can not only be determined in the shortest possible time but also with the greatest possible accuracy. Unnecessary costs for reworking and delayed deliveries, which occur due to inaccurate measurements, can thus be avoided in a highly efficient manner.
